Garnish ideas: Atkinson's Craziest Bloody Mary Garnishes..

Lemons, limes, and celery are a given, then I add in a three-deep toothpick of olives (stuffed with cheese or pimentos, or simply pitted, depending on my mood) and a pickle spear, pickled beans, carrots, cauliflower, banana peppers, steamed oysters, seasoned salt (bacon salt is always a hit)... Bacon, strips or crumbles, Beef Jerky and
Pepperoni.....etc.

No Bloody is complete without a rim of lime and Old Bay on the glass.

NOTE: This is a virgin drink.

Sexy Watermelon Fizz

I made this without any alcohol, but if you want to turn it into an adult beverage some Gin would work well in here.

4 cups watermelon, diced

2 limes

1â…“ cup Ginger Ale

1/4 c. fresh lime juice, divided

A few chunks of watermelon frozen, for garnish

lime wedges, for garnish

3 oz Gin (optional)

The watermelon and the lime work really well together in this drink.  It is just the right amount of tart and sweet together.  I am not usually a Ginger Ale drinker, but here I liked it.  I think Sprite would work well too.  Plus if you use diet soda, there are hardly any calories in here! I am giving you the recipe for 2 big glasses.  You could easily make a big pitcher of this

Light and refreshing drink for summer

Puree the 4 cups of watermelon in a food processor or blender. Pour through a strainer. You should have about 1 cup of watermelon juice. Fill each cup with ice. Pour about ⅓ - ½ cup of watermelon juice over the ice. Into each glass squeeze the juice of one lime. If using Gin add 1½ oz to each glass. Pour in ⅔ cup of Ginger Ale, and stir. Garnish with frozen watermelon, and a lime wedge.

Watermelon Lime Sorbet shells

4 cups of watermelon, cubed

2 limes, juiced

2-3 tablespoons pure raw honey

¼ - ½ tsp sea salt (the salt keeps the sorbet from getting "icy" when frozen)

optional: lime shells and mini chocolate chips or chocolate pieces...

Cut your watermelon into chunks and place in the freezer until frozen, about 2 hours.

Once frozen, place the watermelon in a blender with the remaining ingredients.

Blend until smooth.

Enjoy right away or freeze until ready to use!

Thaw 15 minutes before serving.

To make the Watermelon Shells:

Cut limes in half lengthwise.

Scoop out the flesh and save the flesh for another use (limeaide!).

Add a scoop of watermelon sorbet to the ice cups.

Top with 6 mini chocolate chips for the "seeds".

Blasting Raspberry Margarita!

Delicious hands down raspberry-flavored margarita. This recipe is inspired by one of the big chains that is famous for its margaritas! You'll love this! Be sure to use top-quality tequila and raspberry liqueur for maximum effect.

5 fluid ounces sweet-and-sour cocktail mix

2 fluid ounces premium tequila

1 fluid ounce cointreau

1 fluid ounce Chambord (raspberry liqueur)

2 cups ice cubes

margarita salt

1 lime, cut into 4 wedges

Pour the sweet and sour mix, tequila, cointreau, and raspberry liqueur into a shaker filled with ice. Shake until the shaker is frosty on the outside. Rub the rim of a margarita glass with a lime wedge, then dip in salt. Add a few ice cubes to the glass, then strain the liquid from the shaker carefully into the glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Cocktails, Juicing and smoothies

4 Leaf Shamrock Shake

This has become a St. Patrick's Day tradition in our house. I don't usually like minty sweets, but that creamy, vanilla, hint-of-mint Shamrock Shake is pretty irresistible!

2½ cups milk (dairy or non dairy. For a super-rich shake, try canned coconut milk/ almond milk)

1 cup spinach

1 banana

½ avocado

8 mint leaves / a drop of mint extract

Local raw honey, or sweetener of choice, to taste....(optional)

Optional: 1/4 cup frozen spinach (If you can’t get on board with the greens-in-smoothies thing, you can opt for green food coloring or just drink a white mint shake. Or add a pinch of spirulina!)

Toppings:

whipped cream or whipped coconut cream

25g dark chocolate and 1 tsp coconut oil

cacao nibs or chocolate chips

mint leaves

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend at high speed until smooth, stopping and stirring if needed.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from my Family to yours!

 BEST BARTENDER ON THE BLOCK

I've made many home-made cocktails for guests (and myself!) numerous times, and everyone's loved it. Here are the best of the best. Encourage your party guests to chill out with some of these hand-made ROCKIN cocktails designed by me.

Whisky Lemonade with Honey. Serves one.

First you'll need lots of lemons. I use two lemons for each medium sized drink. You gotta make fresh lemon juice too. I love juicing citrus by hand. It's strangely satisfying.

2 tablespoons whiskey
juice of two fresh lemons
club soda
honey simple syrup
sweetened lime juice

In a medium size glass combine 2 tablespoons whiskey, juice of two fresh lemons, ice then fill the rest of the glass with club soda. Add honey simple syrup to taste. If you're not a big fan of honey use regular simple syrup. Add a splash of sweetened lime juice and garnish with a fresh lemon.

Combine boiling water and gelatin mix and stir until gelatin is completely dissolved. Transfer to blender, add strawberries and vodka (or water/vanilla mixture) and blend to combine. Put into the refrigerator and let thicken for about 75 minutes (should be thickened but not set.)

Meanwhile. halve the limes, and using a grapefruit spoon or some other tool scrape out all the flesh of the lime, leaving the rinds intact. Reserve the lime flesh and/or juice for another use. Rinse quickly and dry.

Once the gelatin has thickened, skim off any foam, then fill the lime halves completely (I put them into the cups of a muffin tin to hold them steady.) Refrigerate until fully set, then carefully halve again with a sharp, clean knife. Decorate with black sesame seeds to mimic the watermelon seeds. Keep refrigerated for up to a day, or serve immediately.

Watermelon/Lime Jello Shooters

Biggest problem with the jello shot is trying to slurp it out of that little Dixie cup and getting it all over your face and it getting sticky nasties everywhere. aww..... mini watermelons=)

These Crazy ROCKIN Red Jello Shots are for all of the crazys  in my life – you know who you are and you rock! Crazy comes in the form of Jagermeister or Fire Ball whiskey, red comes from the cranberry jello and peach schnapps is along for the ride to make sure that everyone plays well with others. Before the night is through, you’ll get red hair too!

Start with a large glass measuring cup and measure 1 cup of boiling water.

Dissolve 1 box of Cranberry Jello (3 oz size) and stir until fully dissolved.

Add 1/2 cup of cold water, 1/4 cup of Peach Schnapps , and 1/4 cup of Jagermeister or Fire Ball whiskey.

Stir well and cool before pouring into jello shot cups.

This recipe makes about 16 shots – adjust as needed for your party.
